Title: Thermokarst Soil-Water connectivity metagenomic study
Citation: Thermokarst Soil-Water connectivity metagenomic study (PRJEB102566). 2025. European Nucleotide Archive. https://www.ebi.ac.uk/ena/browser/view/PRJEB102566
Study Site: Northern Quebec
Purpose: Thermokarst lakes are important landscape features in the transitioning Arctic and are a hotspots for greenhouse gas emissions. However, the dynamics of these gases in such systems are still not fully understood. Terrestrial-to-aquatic connectivity can influence gas emissions through variations in organic matter input, which fuels methanogenesis and affects methanogenic pathways.
Abstract: To investigate these processes, metagenomes were collected in northern Quebec along a thermokarst formation transect, spanning from a palsa (a remnant of permafrost) to thermokarst lakes at different stages of formation.
