Purpose: This repository contains MATLAB code which was used to run Monte Carlo simulations which form the basis for the results in the manuscript NCLIM-22071425B submitted to Nature Climate Change.
Abstract: The carbon (CO2 + CH4) balance of northern non-permafrost peatlands are simulated over the course of a fire free interval based on a simple conceptual model representing the change in carbon exchange with time since fire. Data used to inform the model are included as CSV or Excel files. Summary data on area burned for northern non-permafrost peatlands are included as CSV which are based on the burned area attributes contained in the Fired dataset (https://doi.org/10.1038/s41597-022-01572-3 and https://scholar.colorado.edu/collections/pz50gx05h)
