Study Site: Mackenzie River Valley, Northwest Territories
Purpose: To establish an inventory of Carbon stocks across a wide range of sites over a large geoclimatic gradient. in support of a project measuring the effects of climate on peatlands, permafrost, site productivity and carbon cycling.
Abstract: The following data will be collected: - Tree stock information (Height, Diameter, Stem Density, Leaf Area Index) - Soil Stock information (root biomass, soil analysis, description, photos) - Assay of woody debris, understorey vegetation and bryophytes. - Peat depth/active layer depth, Water table depth - Carbon content of all the above components.
