Study Site: Mattheis Ranch - E3 South
Purpose: In 2010, this site became a research area managed by the Rangeland Research Institute (University of Alberta), offering the possibility of long-term monitoring of ecosystem dynamics under management regimes typical of this region.
Abstract: CO2, H2O fluxes from an Albertan cattle range on grassland mixed with wetlands, data collected starting 2012 continuing to present. The Mattheis Ranch is a 4977 ha working cattle ranch located near Duchess in southern Alberta, Canada, and is mostly characterized by native prairie vegetation (dominated by grasses: Hesperostipa comata, Pascopyrum smithii, Koeleria macrantha, Bouteloua gracilis, and Poa pratensis). The E3 tower site has a slightly varied microtopography with mixed species grass vegetation cover.
